Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure Oleg Butković visited the works on the renovation of the state road DC8, section Pasjak - Rupa intersection, together with the President of the Management Board of Croatian Roads Josip Škorić, local authorities, and contractors.

The value of the project exceeds 3 million euros, and the upper layer of the road was renewed by recycling "IN PLANT". The works started in February this year, and a total of 7 kilometers of road was renovated, completed four months ahead of the planned deadline.

Minister Butković expressed satisfaction with the speed of the performed works, emphasizing that 7 kilometers of the Adriatic Highway at the entrance to Croatia, in the Municipality of Matulji, were completed ahead of schedule. "Great praise goes to Croatian Roads and the contractor for good organization of the work under traffic. This is of great importance for the population and traffic safety," said Butković. Josip Škorić, President of the Management Board of Croatian Roads, stated that the project was not extremely demanding, but the organization of the works during the traffic flow was challenging. He noted that around 20 thousand vehicles pass through this road daily during weekends, with a significant share of truck traffic.

"The completion of this project ahead of schedule shows a high level of expertise and efficiency of our team. We are proud of the successful realization that will improve traffic safety and flow, especially during the tourist season. This success is the result of close cooperation with Croatian Roads and the support of the local community, to whom we are grateful for their trust and understanding during the works," said Daniel Stepinac, director of the company STRABAG, the contractor.

Minister Butković also mentioned other investments in the Municipality of Matulji. The opening of the second tube of the Učka tunnel is expected in mid-September. Hrvatske autoceste d.o.o. announced a tender for the Matulji - Opatija junction, with an estimated value of around 20 million euros. The completion of the works is expected simultaneously with the completion of the Istrian Y from the Učka tunnel to Matulji. "Thus, the Istrian Y sections will be well connected with the motorways and the Rijeka bypass," concluded Butković, thanking everyone for their cooperation on these projects being implemented at the state level with the support of local communities.
